Was hatten Koestler und andere nun behauptet beziehungsweise ans Licht gebracht, was die Gemüter so erregte?

Palestinians Harvesting Olives Reportedly Attacked by Settlers Near Ramallah - Jack Khoury and Yotam Berger - Haaretz - A relative of one of the victims told Haaretz that some 20 settlers were involved in the attack. "We didn`t see their faces," he said. "I was in the village when we heard screaming. We went down there and saw our people, one of whom was bleeding from the head. I called for help and the settlers fled." The Israel Police and the Coordinator of Government Activity in the Territories said that an investigation has been launched in the incident >>>

Video: Army injures three, kidnaps one, and sprays waste-water inside home in Kufur Qaddoum - IMEMC - Several Israeli army vehicles invaded the town, and fired dozens of gas bombs, rubber-coated steel bullets and concussion grenades at the protesters. An Israeli peace activist was mildly injured by army fire; Palestinian medics provided him with the needed treatment. Morad Eshteiwy of the Popular Committee also stated that the soldiers deliberately fired gas bombs into several homes, and sprayed them with waste-water mixed with chemicals, some families suffering severe effects of teargas inhalation. >>>

Extremist settlers reap profits from occupied Jerusalem sites - Charlotte Silver - EI - The report of Israel’s state comptroller says the Israel Antiquities Authority has not supervised Elad’s archaeological work, nor has the Israel Nature and Parks Authority supervised Elad’s management of the so-called City of David, a settlement containing an archaeological museum catering to tourists. The City of David settlement is located in the middle of the Palestinian neighborhood of Silwan in occupied East Jerusalem, and Elad asserts it is the ancient biblical City of King David mentioned in the second book of Samuel. Emek Shaveh, an alternative archaeology group that opposes Israel’s use of archaeology as a political tool to assert claims to East Jerusalem, says the report confirms many of the issues the group has been protesting for years. >>>

Female engineers hope to rebuild Gaza with "green cake" - Albawaba - The environmentally-friendly material, which took more than a year to develop, is made of ash and cement and isolates sound, extreme temperatures and fire. It’s named because it’s literally and figuratively green and has a spongy texture, just like a cake. It is lightweight, of lower cost than traditional blocks, thus contributing to the improvement of the buildings and residences in the Gaza Strip. >>>

Child Rights Briefing: October 2016 : News and updates on the situation of Palestinian children living in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. - Defence for Children International - “He asked for my Facebook password,” said Ahmad H., 17, recalling his first interrogation at Ofer military prison on August 1. “I gave it to him. He logged in and said it had inciting photos.” “I told [the interrogator] of my arrest earlier in April 2016 for 10 days, when I was interrogated [at Shikma prison] in Ashkelon about my Facebook account. I told him I deleted everything upon my release and the account is clean. I told him to check it.” Ahmad told Defense for Children International – Palestine that his interrogator at that point accused him of “obstructing the interrogation, claiming that I had asked someone to delete the photos, but I denied it.” >>>

The gruesome murder of five Arab boys refuses to disappear — 55 years on - Beaten, tortured, and shot to death: this is the story of five Arab boys who met a gruesome fate at the hands of Israel’s security forces in September 1961. Ben Gurion’s government refused to tell the truth of what really happened. - Makbula Nassar

Last week marked 60 years since the Kafr Qasim massacre. Although the event is seared into our collective consciousness, it was not the only horrendous crime committed by Israeli security forces against innocent Arab citizens during the dark days of the military government, which lasted from 1949 until 1966.

September marked 55 years since the mysterious deaths of George Shama, 17, Jeries Badeen, 16, Rimoun Maroun — the three of them hailed from Haifa’s Wadi Nisnas neighborhood — Faiz Said Ahmad from Sakhnin, and Mahmoud Abdullah Jabarin from Umm al-Fahm, 18. Their bodies were found at around the same time.

On September 17, 1961 the boys’ bodies were tossed from an ambulance belonging to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute onto the front doors of their families. One after another, a day after they disappeared. The bodies were beaten, riddled with bullets, and showed signs of torture and abuse. According to the state, the boys were “shot while fleeing” as they tried to cross the border into Egypt. Ben Gurion’s government released a statement, claiming that the boys “…did not heed the warning, refused to stop, and continued to run toward the border. Thus they were shot.” (the quotes are brought forth by articles published in the Arabic-language Al-Ittihad newspaper).

Photographs of the bodies, and the testimonies that contradicted this version of the events and revealed the truth, did not embarrass the Israeli regime. Instead of dealing with the question of how these teenagers were killed and who tortured them, Israeli newspapers >>>

‘Do not blame Israelis for settlements or excessive use of force’ –Clinton stance was clear a year ago US Politics  - Philip Weiss - Browsing the Wikileaks dump of 47,000+ emails from Hillary Clinton’s campaign chair John Podesta this morning, there are more great revelations about how our mainstream politics really work, when it comes to Israel and Palestine. In no clear order of importance, let’s have a look. I’m starting with the gossip. I’ll get to the policy position in my headline at the end.

Notice the way Hillary Clinton corrects a foreign policy ad in January that shows her brokering a peace deal and pictures her with Israeli and Palestinian leaders: One question: the images of Bibi and Abbas w the narrative being the cease fire are off. The images are from our peace efforts not the cease fire. Worried we’ll be criticized. There should be photos from cease fire announcement in Cairo.

It’s that nickname, Bibi, parallel with Abbas. You know who counts. Even Dennis Ross calls Abbas by his informal name, Abu Mazen.

This email sent to the campaign braintrust last year by Haim Saban’s aide links to a Jerusalem Post list of the world’s most influential Jews. Saban is number 6, and pictured with Hillary Clinton. The list includes also Janet Yellen, Jack Lew, and Wendy Sherman. Netanyahu and Sheldon Adelson and Malcolm Hoenlein and Ron Lauder are in the top ten too. Saban’s aide comments to the Clinton team: “You are all in good company.”  >>>
